Biology SL/HL

IB Biology SL and HL are two-year laboratory courses covering all topics considered appropriate for an introductory college biology course. The principles of biology, such as evolution, ecology, cellular structure and function, molecular biology and genetics are covered extensively. Laboratory experimentation will be extensive and include the mathematical analysis of data and writing of lab reports. The student must be highly self-motivated and possess higher-order thinking skills. Adequate preparation in mathematics and writing skills are essential for success in this course. Students will learn at an accelerated pace and the coursework will demonstrate elevated rigor.

The principles of chemistry, such as structure, states of matter, thermo chemistry, reactions and descriptive chemistry are covered in detail. Laboratory experimentation will be extensive and will require a significant time commitment by the student. The student must be highly self-motivated and possess higher order thinking skills.
